CMM Instrument Information
A machine used for extremely accurately measuring the dimensional characteristics of a machined part. The machine is controlled either manually or via a computer and contains a very precise measurement probe. This probe is navigated in three axes (X, Y and Z) and scans the part being measured, generating a dimensional measurement from a zero programmed by the operator.

Common Uses
Accurate dimensional measurement of complex machined parts with many different attributes (holes, chamfers, steps, etc.) or parts too long for other measurement devices.
