Capacitance Meter Instrument Information
An electronic instrument containing a base meter, with a knob for option selection and two leads, used for measuring capacitance, mainly of discrete capacitors. Typically, the capacitor being tested must be removed from its system. The capacitor is charged and discharged with a known current, while the meter measures the rise in voltage. The slower the rise, the larger the capacitance. For additional accuracy, the capacitor can be placed into a bridge circuit. Many also measure leakage, equivalent series resistance (ESR) and inductance.

Common Uses
Testing the capacitance of a capacitor, such as used in radios, microwaves and cameras.
