ESR Meters Instrument Information
An electronic device which measures the equivalent series resistance (ESR) of real capacitors, without the need to disconnect the capacitor from the circuit it is connected to. The meter operates by discharging a real electrolytic capacitor and passing an electrical current through a short time. This action produces a voltage across the device equal to the product of the known current and the ESR. The voltage is measured and divided by the known current, providing the devices with the measured ESR, which is then displayed on the readout.
