Anemometer Instrument Information
A device used to measure the velocity of air moving past a certain point. The traditional design contains several cups mounted around a vertical shaft. As wind moves past the anemometer, the cups spin at a rate proportional to the wind velocity. By counting the number of times the cups spin in a set time period, wind velocity can be determined

Common Uses
- Measuring the velocity of air moving past a certain point, such as in weather forecasting or on an airplane.
Common Types
- Velocity Anemometers (Cup, Vane, Hot-Wire, Laser Doppler, Ultrasonic, Acoustic Resonance)
- Pressure Anemometers (Plate, Tube, Pitot Tube)
Measurement Parameter
- Velocity
