Pin Gages Instrument Information
A set of metallic cylinders machined to a very precise diameter. A full set includes pins of increasing diameter at specified increments (commonly 0.001″). Commonly machined as “minus” pins, a pin gage defines the size of a hole by the largest pin gage that can be “fully inserted and extracted in that hole using only a light finger grip on the sides of the gage.”

Common Uses
- Go/No-Go measuring of machined holes.
- Setting of measuring equipment, such as micrometers and calipers.
