Function Generator Instrument Information
An electronic device used in the development, test and repair of electronics to generate different types of electrical waveforms over a wide range of frequencies, such as sine, square, triangular and sawtooth waves. An internal capacitor is charged and discharged at varying rates from a current source to create the varying waveforms.

Common Uses
- Storing energy in an electrical system, like a temporary battery, commonly in commercial electronic devices where a disconnect from electrical source would be damaging.
- Blocking DC signals but allowing AC signals to pass through an electrical system.
- Motor starters.
